Posting Requirements

The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Italy and is responsible for conducting all city elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas. Elections are conducted annually on the Uniform Election Day in May (the first Saturday in May). The City of Italy contracts with the Ellis County Elections Administrator for election services. Our elections are held countywide with vote centers allowing voters to cast their ballots at any voting location in the county.

Texas Election laws regarding campaign finances and legal matters limit the role of the City Secretary’s Office to accepting and filing the various candidate applications, affidavits and statements and noting the date of filing.
